HEALTH AND NUTRITION

The health and nutrition status in most of the slums due to an overcrowded, substandard housing structure facilitates the spread of infectious diseases such as Tuberculosis, hepatitis, cholera, diarrhea, malaria among other deadly diseases. Health and nutrition within slums and arid rural areas requires a more direct, focused and integrated strategy that will help fostering a healthy society.

Access to quality health care is still a problem in most of the slums. The ratio of health cares to the population around it is really saddening in that at the time of health crisis, most of the health-cares here are overcrowded. The issue about malnutrition such as faulty infant feeding practices, impared utilization of nutrition due to infection and parasites, poor environmental condition and lack of proper child care practices are still major problems that put minors and women at risk of severe health conditions and deaths.

Our organization is making major progress in fighting infections and diseases, training the community health workers (CHW), providing of safe mosquito nets, promoting good hygiene practices and teaching the community about proper nutritional methods for proper development of children and mother’s health.
